CALL for participation in the Annual Conference

ON THE PASSAGE BETWEEN EXISTING AND NEW LABOUR LEGISLATION IN NORTH MACEDONIA – TOO EARLY OR TOO LATE FOR A NEW LABOUR RELATIONS LAW?

The Association for Labour and Social Law of North Macedonia (ZTSP) is starting the organizational preparations for the Annual Conference “On the passage between existing and new labour legislation in North Macedonia – Too early or too late for a new Labour Relations Law?” which will be held in Ohrid at the end of May, 2023.

In the past period, one of the main activities of the Association for Labour and Social Law of North Macedonia was the production of a classified electronic database of judicial decisions in the field of labour relations (case law database), which is published on the Association’s website (https://trudovopravo.mk/sudska-praksa/rabotni-odnosi/). The case law database contains more than 500 relevant judgments of the competent courts in North Macedonia, systematized in several different groups within the framework of individual and collective labour law. The broad range of issues and topics covered on the Association’s website corresponds to the main goal of next year’s conference, which is to discuss and exchange opinions and views on all the most appealing issues and current trends in labour law towards the adoption of the new Labour Relations Law. Despite the fact that the main emphasis of next year’s conference is on the situation related to the Macedonian labour legislation, other international, regional and comparative legal experiences on modern developments and challenges in labour law, as well as analyzes on interpretation and compliance of national legal orders with the EU social acquis, will be of no less importance.

Considering the above, ZTSP issues a Call for submission of a topic (paper title and abstract) for participation in the Annual Conference, pertained to all interested theorists, practitioners and researchers from the country and beyond who will submit a topic in the field of or related to labour relations (https://forms.gle/JyYgP1Za77ERHvfF6).

In the selection and submisson of the topic, participants should consider the following areas:

– Discrimination, mobbing and human rights in the workplace;

– Establishment of an employment relationship, employment contract and non-standard forms of employment;

– Management and organization, competition protection and restructuring (managers, non-compete clauses, trade secrets, transfer of undertakings, insolvency, collective redundancies, etc.);

– Working conditions and employment rights (salaries and payment of work, working time, rest periods and leaves from work, etc.);

– Disciplinary liability and termination of the employment relationship;

– Freedom of association, right to organize and collective bargaining and strike;

– Any other legal area or matter related to work or employment;

The deadline for submission of topics (titles and abstracts of papers) is February 13, 2023, and for sending final papers is March 30, 2023.

Final papers should be sent to the following e-mail address: ztspsm@gmail.com

Guidelines for writing the papers can be found by clicking on the following link.

The papers will be presented in the program part of the Conference, titled as “conference session”. In addition, a panel discussion on topical labour law issues will also be held at the Conference, in which representatives of workers’ and employers’ organizations as well as of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia will participate.

Papers and other contents from the Conference will be published in a Scientific Journal with an international editorial board.

The organization of the Annual Conference and the printing of the conference publication are supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
